The ZWO IR 852 nm Pass Filter is designed for infrared sensitive cameras, like the ASI224MC, and allows spectacular images
♦ IR pass filter - interference filter with 1.25" filter thread

♦ blocks all visible light, the filter opens only shortly before 800 nm (image at left)

♦ This filter allows exciting photographs, like veins through the palm of a hand (image at left - through the camera ASI224MC, IR pass filter and lens)

♦ The filter is interesting for lunar, planetary and solar photography.

ZWO 1.25" 850 nm IR Pass Filter for Infrared Photography
The IR pass filter is suitable for cameras which are sensitive for infrared light. Cameras with built-in IR block filter cannot be used with this filter. Examples for IR-sensitive cameras are ASI224MC or ASI185MC. But DSLR cameras with removed IR protection filter and CCD cameras are suitable for infrared photography.

Functionality and features:
The IR pass filter blocks all the visible light. Usually, the range goes up to about 700 nm, that is deep red light. The transmission curve of the ZWO filter rises steeply shortly before 800 nm and reaches maximum transmission at 860 nm.

This extreme filtering allows exciting applications like:

♦ Long-distance photography at daytime - due to reduced diffraction, mist becomes more transparent, as the skin in the image of the hand
♦ Planetary photography - removing the shorter wavelengths has a calming effect on the seeing. Especially Venus and Mars images become spectacular.
♦ Experiments with deep sky photography - with suitable telescopes
